Abundance

When you start a new year, do you set a word for the year? To embody and work towards the entire year? I do now but I didn’t used to. I also used to do resolutions instead of intentions for the new year.

I think new year’s resolutions are outdated and lead to an impossible standard most people cannot meet. Now, hear me out. When you say you are “resolute” about something, it means you are making a firm decision to do something. I don’t know about you but I do NOT stay firm in my commitments when I make them on the the first of the year. I had failed time and time again when I set resolutions instead of setting intentions or goals.

When you set an intention it is an aim or a goal. So when you set an intention, you are creating a more flexible goal for yourself to aim for throughout the year. Because we are constantly evolving, growing and changing, I feel like this is the more up to date way to start the year. This way as you discover new things that inspire you throughout the year, you can add that to your intention for the year. And as you practice your intentions throughout the year, you can drop things that no longer serve you as well. There is more ebb and flow to this than setting a rigid resolution.

All resolutions are not bad of course, but I am suggesting to you not to start your year off with one. I have a really hard time being resolute to anything because my mind is always open to trying new things and learning new ways of doing things. Some people will have more success with resolutions than me. And that’s okay!

Moral of the story is to do what feels good for YOU not anyone else, even me! I am here as a guide for those who are going through what I have gone through. This has helped me have more successful years! I have only just recently shook off my comparing myself to others. When I struggled with that setting resolutions made me feel like I could never measure up to what everyone else was doing.

But by setting intentions it helps guide my year along and I have an idea of what I want it to look like. My word for my year in 2022 is abundance. I want a more abundant life this year. To me that looks like make more money so we can stress less, be more adventurous and have more flexibility! We were gifted a zoo membership for Christmas this year and to have the freedom and flexibility to go whenever we want to will be so fun this year! It’s really abundance financially, in love, in family, in quality time, in silliness, pretty much in every aspect of life I want to be more abundant!

So I encourage you to set a word for the year if you haven’t yet. Begin your year with a feeling you want to being into your entire life and bring in some intentions to your life as well! Can’t wait to hear what your word is! Send it to me via Instagram or Facebook!
